On an 89 camaro do you have to take off the lower control arm to change motor mounts?

I want to change the motor mounts in my 89 camaro but It seems that the lower control arm is in the way. Do I really have to take that all the way off just to get to the bolts on the motor mounts? If so what tools will I need

If its in the way, it has to be removed. They should come out with just hand tools. You might want to get a “ball joint separator.” It basically looks like a pry bar with two forks. It can be done without it, but it makes it easier.

The steering knuckle to remove the balljoint while youre there should be plenty of room for and replace the steering knuckle to take the boot you could end up with some pics that might help motor mounts for.

No, you don’t have to remove any suspension parts to get to the engine mounts.
It’s a pain in the butt, but can be got to.. The size is 15mm
If you jack front of car up and place on stands, get under it, theres a couple of holes per side drilled into the K member.. You can reach 2 of the bolts through those holes with a 3/8″ drive ratchet, extension, U joint (wobble joint) and a 15mm socket.
The third bolt, you have to use a wrench with a 30 to 45 degree bent end.. ( I took a cheap china one, heated it with a propane plumbers torch and bent it to the angle I needed with a hammer.)
You have to reach the wrench up through the gap between the A arm and the K member.
It will take you a couple hours to do both mounts..
I changed quite a few doing 2.8L v-6 to v8 swaps
