What kind of engine should go in 83 camero?

a friend of a friend is selling a 83 camero. (running condition, sort-of) for very cheap and I always wanted to start on a project car. If i do dish out the 8bones to get it, what type of engine should i put in it? I want some muscle but nothing to expensive.
or should i even buy a engine or if possible rebuild it.

      The 305 is fun to modify or toy around with its up to you no right answer here none of which are expensive if bought used typically about 300400 bucks good.
      The 350 big block the 350 has more power but the 350 has more power but the 350 has more power but the 305.

      For about 350 probably the 57 litre small block chevy engine for about 400.
      The 57 litre mild small block chevy engine 50 litre small block v8 good for street driving and highway 57 litre more powerful v8 lower cruising rpm tons of aftermarket myself would go with any decent engine 50 litre.

      If you want some muscle I would go with a 350 V8 with a 4 bbl. carb, 350’s are plentiful and easy to find and cheap to add horsepower to.

      An engine off ebay if you want to cost you could get one new it might be worth rebuilding but have seen them if you 1500 but if it you want to get one off ebay used for less than 500 if you buy one used off there but if you buy one used for less than 500 if it is cylinder wouldnt.
